Today is a rainy day, but it got me thinking… Why do we feel we need to stop our personal and sometimes professional photography, filming, etc. Is it because we fear the rain with our equipment? Is it because the rain just makes us feel lazy? Or maybe its because we don’t feel we can do anything in the rain, like nothing good will come of it and it will all just look terrible.

Some people even begin the excuses:  “well its rainy and the light is bad” or “Its so wet outside that I don’t think anything will look good.” But these are all just things that we think are a problem when sometimes that is the greatest time to challenge ourselves. I’m not promoting going outside in a storm and try to get great imagery, but in those times that there is light rain, or just after the rain has stopped are some of the most beautiful times to view the world.

So please, challenge yourself, make the best of lighting and find the joy in situations that would normally seem paralyzing…
